At Clothing Manufacturers UK, we specialise in creating custom garments for our clients. We provide all of the relevant services to help you make your garments from start to finish. We help our clients at any stage, providing a quick and efficient service, as we develop all of the garment styles in-house in London, as we feel its best when everything is developed under one place and it keeps the communication much more synchronised and organised.  Allowing us to provide a streamlined service for our clients. We can help both new start up brands or established brands from the design stage through to production.

We can produce the following but not limited to:

We value being ethical when manufacturing clothing, it's important part of our ethos that we are ethical and sustainable. We manufacture all of the garments we make in London as we feel it's important to bring back clothing manufacturing to the UK, where we can make really high quality garments at a quick pace. We manufacture our clothing in London because it's important to us to make them in a sustainable manner, while ensuring we keep fabric waste to a minimum and paying our team a competitive fair wage for their hard work. It's also important to us to be sustainable by using sustainable fabrics that are knitted/woven in the UK, this allows us to minimise transportation miles and support the fabric manufacturers in the UK that also share this need to be sustainable when manufacturing.

Manufacturing in the UK, is mostly considered to be more expensive than manufacturing abroad. However this isn't always true. Brands need to consider that they will have to pay import charges, taxes, shipping fees to have the garments delivered to the UK but also to get the samples made and sent to you, VAT etc, when manufacturing abroad. Therefore it can sometimes be more cheaper to manufacture in the UK. Its more difficult to get your vision across to manufacturers abroad as they are thousands of miles away from you. While working with Clothing Manufacturers UK, you can work closely with us and see your garments at each stage of development. As we want you to be involved at every stage to ensure the garment is made exactly how you want it to be. We provide garment fittings so we can really go through each garment and perfect the fit of it.

It's more likely you will need to do more than one sample with a manufacturer abroad and it can be a back and forth process of making numerous samples in order to get the fit correct. You can feel fabrics at our studio before deciding which ones to go with, rather than waiting a few weeks to receive fabric samples from a manufacturer abroad. On average it takes about 4-6 weeks for our productions to be complete for each client, whereas it can take a minimum of 12 weeks to receive productions from an abroad manufacturer, as the manufacturer will need to export the garments which can take a few weeks.

Mass producing your garments in the UK, supports the people who live in the UK who have amazing skills at producing high quality garments, supporting our UK economy. Manufacturing with us, Clothing Manufacturers UK,  also supports other local businesses such as fabric suppliers who manufacture their fabrics here in the UK as well as our other suppliers who make our packaging and labelling... just to name a few things we use to help produce our garments. As we like to source in the UK, as much as possible to help keep our transporting emissions as low as possible but also support the other fabric and trims suppliers who are based in the UK, which we work alongside daily. It's an important part of our ethos, to keep as our sourcing only in the UK, as we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and be sustainable through out the whole process of manufacturing our garments.

We like to support new start up brands as much has possible therefore we have low MOQ's (minimum order quantities) to allow them to start up a clothing brand without the need to mass produce on such a large scale. We also allow all of our clients to split our MOQ further into different sizes and colour ways so that they can provide a wider range of clothing to their own clients. We are also able to manufacture large volumes of garments, so it's great for established brands that are looking to mass produce their styles. In order for us to support our start up brands further, we can provide one on one consultancy services to support start ups further, its a great service for those who do not have much knowledge in the fashion industry or just need extra support with the manufacturing process. At production, our MOQ is 250 units. This can be split between various styles. Then broken down further into different colour options and sizes.

We feel it's important for our clients to be as involved as possible in the process, in order to create custom garments exactly how they would like them to be. Therefore for us its vital the fit and shaping of the garment is perfected! We always suggest to our clients to attend a garment fitting with us at the toile and sampling stage. Garment fittings are crucial to ensure the garment fits well and everything is in proportion as sometimes things might look great on a drawing but when translated in to a 3D garment the proportions might not work according to a clients drawing so its always best to do a toile to minimise an errors further on in the process.

Choosing fabrics is an important part of the whole process. At Clothing Manufacturers UK, we can help with fabric sourcing. We source our fabrics from the UK and occasionally from Europe, we priorities getting our fabrics as close to home as possible to minimise our carbon footprint as well as its much quicker to receive fabrics from the UK than importing them from abroad. We can source both woven and knitted fabrics that are manufactured in the UK/Europe. We also work alongside our fabric suppliers that can dye natural fibre fabrics such as cotton for you, to your desired Pantone colours. As well as we can digitally print on fabrics for you - so you can have your artwork printed directly on your chosen fabrics.

THE PROCESS

Once you have your technical drawings, we then proceed to the pattern phase. This is where your designs are turned in to templates which is an important part of the whole process. It is important that your pattern is perfected. This is why it is key to create a toile after making a pattern. This allows us to see the garment in 3D, then it is followed by pattern amendments. This could be a back and forth development. However this is dependant on the complexity of your designs. The more simpler styles, do not require many developments.

Once you are happy with your toile - it is then the sampling stage. Where your styles will be made up in the final fabrics chosen for production. So you can see exactly what the garments will look like at production.

Next, is the grading stage. This is where your patterns are transformed in to various sizes, ready for production. We can use different size charts if you require this as well as make custom ones for you.

The next stage is, ordering fabrics and trims for production. Fabric suppliers usually have a MOQ when it comes to ordering fabrics for production and require you to purchase a certain amount of fabrics. So always bare in mind, that you might have to buy more fabric than you need.

This is followed by production. This is the phase where everything is made to the required units per style that you have requested. Typically takes about 4-6 weeks for production to be completed. We can always give to you the garments that are finished first to you as the production continues.
